Believe the Impossible - Resonance @ WMODA
The Believe the Impossible season of events at WMODA begins on January 22 with live performances of Resonance by multi-disciplinary artist, Dave Rosenthal, and glass artist, Rob Stern. They will unite glass and sound design in their improvisational dialogue with unusual glass instruments made and played by Rob and keyboard responses composed by Dave to create a musical score of synthesized sounds. Rob and Dave’s innovative performances of Resonance @ WMODA symbolize the cycle of life and creation in the glassmaking process.
This immersive sensory experience will create a visceral response and expand perceptions of glass, the power of sound and their intersection. Resonance @ WMODA celebrates the United Nations International Year of Glass and Fort Lauderdale Art & Design Week. This performance was made possible with support from Broward County Cultural Division. Admission to WMODA is free that day. Limited pre-reserved seats for the Resonance performances at 11am and 2pm on Saturday, January 22 are now available for a $10 donation to the museum. Donations benefit the educational programs at WMODA, a 501c3 not-for-profit museum. |

Believe the Impossible · Wearable Glass in Wonderland
At the stroke of noon on January 22, glass art at WMODA will come to life as we launch the United Nations International Year of Glass and celebrate Fort Lauderdale Art & Design Week. Iconic characters from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll will show off their zany costumes in a fashion show featuring wearable glass art. Alice will follow the White Rabbit down the rabbit hole and through the looking glass to the Mad Hatter’s tea party. On her way, she will encounter some of the bizarre residents of Wonderland including the formidable Queen of Hearts, the March Hare, and the grinning Cheshire Cat presented by fashion designer and glass artist, Chelsea Rousso.
It gets “curiouser and curiouser” as Chelsea is also working with fine art photographer, Suzanne Barton, to reimagine Alice’s impossible dreamscape underwater. Highlights of their unbelievable collaboration will be exhibited as part of this special event. Don’t be late for this very important date! The Wearable Glass in Wonderland fashion show was made possible with support from the Broward County Cultural Division and fabrics were supplied by Jeffrey Michaels Design and their associates and set design fabrics were provided by Valley Forge. Admission to WMODA is free that day. The pre-reserved seats have sold out but there will be plenty of standing room to enjoy the fashion show. After the Alice in Wonderland characters have made their debut on the runway, they will be on location in the museum galleries for photo opportunities until 2:00 pm. Museum admission is FREE on Saturday, January 22 from 10am to 4pm to celebrate the start of Fort Lauderdale Art & Design Week. |

Sonically, their music ranges from blues rock stompers laced with searing electric fiddle and frantic percussion, to lush folk ballads that spotlight frontman Adam Ezra's gritty, soulful voice. They've won three New England Music Awards: best song in 2016, album of the year in 2012, and band of the year in 2013. Their latest record, Hurricane Wind is entirely fan-produced and includes three collaborations with John Oates, of Hall and Oates.
